The Grass That Feeds the Earth

At GreenDreamerFarm, the rhythm of care begins with something simple — the hum of a mower and the scent of freshly cut grass. Each blade that falls becomes part of a quiet ritual: mulching.

After trimming the field, I gather the grass clippings into soft mounds beneath the trees. The photos show this gentle choreography — piles of golden-brown mulch resting around young saplings and mature trees alike, each one a cradle of nourishment.

Mulching with grass clippings is more than tidiness; it’s a conversation with the soil. As the mulch decomposes, it releases nutrients — nitrogen, potassium, and trace minerals — back into the earth. This natural cycle feeds the roots, improves soil structure, and encourages microbial life to flourish.

Benefits of Mulching.

  • Moisture retention — The mulch acts like a blanket, keeping the soil cool and damp even under the tropical sun.
  • Weed suppression — It shades out unwanted growth, reducing competition for nutrients and water.
  • Soil enrichment — As the grass breaks down, it adds organic matter that enhances fertility and texture.
  • Erosion control — The mulch cushions the soil against heavy rain, protecting the delicate root systems.
  • Carbon recycling — Instead of burning or discarding clippings, I returns them to the land, closing the loop of growth and decay.

Each tree in the photos — glossy-leaved, vibrant, and strong — stands as proof of this practice. The mulch beneath them is not waste but wisdom, a living layer that connects the farm’s rhythm to nature’s pulse.
